It might be 30 days away, but here at The Roar we’ve already caught Rugby World Cup fever and needed a way to show our excitement!
So with less than a month to go until the first kick-off in England, we’ve decided to count down some of the best moments ever witnessed in the competition’s history.
We begin with a World Cup performance that has truly stood the test of time: Grant Fox’s record for conversions at a single tournament.
The All Black great sent 30 between the sticks at the inaugural World Cup in 1987, as New Zealand stormed their way to a maiden Webb Ellis Cup.
In addition to his record for most conversions at a World Cup still standing today, he also holds the record for the most points by an individual at the tournament, with 126.
Fox attributes his well-crafted approach to kicking to the hours he spent before the full-size set of goal posts his father built in their front paddock when he was a boy.

8. Diego Ormaechea, at age 40, was the oldest number 8 to play at a World Cup
7. No.7 Michael Jones scores the first ever World Cup try

5. Jannie de Beer’s five drop goals in a match against England in the 1999 quarter-finals
4. Michael Lynagh’s four tries in World Cup matches including his match-winner against Ireland
