Time for Thurston to retire – before it's too late
Marciano only had six fights as champ then retired, he beat a lot of nobodies before he became champ.
Time for Thurston to retire – before it's too late
I would agree the nrl has never been on par or even ahead of the Afl. Possibly the 95/96 seasons when we had 22 teams in the competition with the Reds in Perth but once Super League Rock around it stuffed everything up and the game hasn’t recovered since
The NRL is falling behind the AFL
Klitschko would be ko Louis anyway no problem
Time for Thurston to retire – before it's too late
The rock, are you kidding me. Rock was champ for like six fights before he retirement. Ali was named sportsman of the century by time magazine and others. So Ali beats them both hands down. Plus Ali was to quick for Louis
Time for Thurston to retire – before it's too late
Do you’re research mate, the only reason Joe Louis was champ for so long was because of WW2 and he didn’t fight while serving duty during the war. Plus Ali would of cleaned Joe up in six rounds. I don’t really think that authors intentions was to start a debate about Ali, just to merely point out that if Thurston keeps going and losing it would tarnish his brilliant career. I liked the article made sense excellent read
Time for Thurston to retire – before it's too late
As I said before we are all slaves to the almighty dollar and loyalty to anyone or anything is dependent on the position of the decimal point written on the cheque. Plane and simple
Tell your story walking Israel. The NRL doesn’t want your crap
Althete for hire?? Really Tim?? What’s wrong with that?? If your being paid to play league and the afl offers you more to play with them, wouldn’t you take the offer??? I would, we are all slaves to the almighty dollar and how dare you condemn a man for taking legitimate offers to provide for himself. I’m pretty sure that you would stop writing for the roar if the age or another media outlet came along with more money on the table. Really disappointed in this article
Tell your story walking Israel. The NRL doesn’t want your crap
Definitely Beattie, at least Carney had the poor arse excuse of being drunk ? when he did his stupid stuff. Beattie was sober, apparently
Radical plan announced to decriminalise Todd Carney
Dane where do you come up with this garbage. Under the influence of something maybe?????. But seriously one of your best. Nice way to stick it up those greenies you just want to get stoned all day
Radical plan announced to decriminalise Todd Carney
Oh want a load of crap! Ben Ellis was the greatest Miller of penalties ever and he would flat out cheat sometimes to get them and he is fondly remembered as a great legend of the game. Boxers take dives all the time (Briggs v Green comes to mind) and they are still fondly remembered so I don’t think s couple of dives by slater is going to tarnish his legacy. As the author states “ get over it”
You think Billy Slater’s a grub - get over it
that’s a true comment at the Northern territory papers, no smut reporting, just barely readable articles against crocs.
Johnathan Thurston and Wayne Bennett warm up for Sunday
Ok, after going on late night talk back radio, last night on the triple M network and bagging out Beattie for yet another embarrassing moments on national tv, he has earnt the “Idiot of the week” Award. last week its was Connor McGregor, this week its Beattie. After my fired up rant I have come to the conclusion that there are only two people in the workforce, those who respect there jobs, and those who don’t. Liking ones job and respecting ones job are two different things.
Here is my point, you can hate your job, like most of us do, but you still turn up on time, do your job to the best of your ability, learn everything you can to increase your knowledge of that job to get a well deserved paycheck. Beattie does not even know that the Sharks are from Cronulla, nor the difference between a Newcastle Knights jersey and a Euorpean Soccer jersey, what an idiot!!. The man is in charge of the NRL, wouldn’t you think that lesson 101 is to learn, what teams are in the competition, where they come from and what their Jerseys look like? I know that this can be confusing as they change virtually every week now but he should know or be told about this. Beattie may love his job but he does not respect it enough even to learn the fundamental basics of the game and who he is representing to try to improve the game. He did the same with the Commonwealth games, no respect for the job.
Here is a solution, I’ll gladly sit down with Beattie, explain to him who are all the teams in the NRL, their locations, what their colours look like and thanks to my top ten articles I even give him an insight to their all time best players.
I find it impossible that a man that ran the state of qld for near a decade is too arrogant to learn the basic details of his new job.
Time for a lesson Mr Beattie, before you stuff up the NRL as well.
Beattie sorry for flawed closing ceremony
Just support more teams, particular on the Weekend, by the time you just getting fired up to curse out a losing side, another one of your teams is about to play so you forget about it. Air caution though with days like Saturday with both the Warriors and Cowboys losing to team that they should of flogged by 20 easily, your heart might take a pounding from all the yelling and screaming at those sides. my recommendation, get fit and buff so your heart does beat more than 150 bpm even well your really pi$$ed off
Heart specialists advise against being a fan of the NRL
that is hardly the point to hold the games, but the opportunity that a country that would not stand a chance in the Olympics can win a bronze in same sport in the commonwealth games is reason enough for any country to hold it.
Why the Commonwealth Games matter
If Minto still work for Coldwell Banker and Richard Vanhoff in Yeppoon then the statement that he only sells the best real estate makes perfect sense. But why would Minto what Yeppoon nothing but the smell of fish guts and sand flies on offer. Emu Park is a much better place. Also book us a ticket at the awards night I want to see Minto get his awards, no bugger that I’ll be the MC. I wonder if Minto ever reads these comments.
Are the Cowboys cooked?
Speaking of my articles, well its only April and already half of the events on this list as done and dusted so time to review what’s happened so far.
Mundine v Browne
Actually this was a surprise and a half, nobody expected that Mundine would KO Browne is such a dominant fashion and prove that he is far from done. I expected it ot be a ten round dance to the judges scorecards, but i was more than happy to be wrong. Unfortunately he would undo all his hard work by going on that stupid “Im a d grade celebrity with nothing else better to do so dump me in the South African Jungle so I can get my name back in the media again” show and destroyed what ever respect Australia had left for him, but if it happens I’ll look forward to his next fight.
Winter Olypmics – not our best performance at a Winter Olympics but still a half decent turnout, still worth watching.
Heavyweight division in boxing. The Wilder v Ortiz fight was an epic clash where Wilder was pushed like never before and had to dig deeper to pull off the ten round KO. Brilliant fight that showed he is a formiddible force in the heavyweight divivsion. Joshua v Parker was no where near as good of battle as Joshua easily outboxed the smaller Parker whom everytime he got near or under Joshua the ref interviened which was disappointed as Parker did not get a chance to attack Joshua’s body. Now we just wait for Joshua v Wilder to happen if it ever does.
Summer of tennis was ok but nothing real to speak. Maybe the young aussie that played Federer but nothing special.
Jeff Horn v Terrence Crawford is quickly turning into a joke. Three dates and two venue changes later its still not finalise and I have given up that this will ever happen. UFC 225 in Chicago clashes will the Mainevent schedule so the fight might not even go to PPV and be on Foxsports here. This is just a joke now and by the time the fight actually rocks around, no body will care.
The testimonial between Melbourne the Cowboys
A brilliant game but it been down hill ever since for both teams, so lets see if things improve for both teams.
Commonwealth Games, bar the closing ceremony, the games were a complete success for the atheletes but Beattie and his band of misfits could not of stuffed up the tourism dollar more, telling people not to come because they wont get in was the dumbest thing ever. Surfers Paradise was a Ghost Town, even bad enough for A Current Affair to report on, so good job Beattie, not. But the games themselves were gate and pleasure to watch.
But the biggest disappointment so far this year is the UFC, not just 221. UFC 220 was the best way to start the year but things have well and truly fallen apart since then, three PPV since and three mainevent card changes. UFC was supposed to be Robert Whittaker defending his middleweight against Luke Rockhold, but Whittaker got infected with staff so that just bad luck. They replaced it with a Interim fight with the winner to face Whittaker at 225, but fans would of felt ripped off that they did not get to see their Aussie champ fight. 222 was a disaster that had to be saved with a slap together fight for the Women’s bantamweight title that lasted about 50 seconds, and the same with 223 and to top it off Connor Mcgregor’s assault on the bus was the perfect way to keeping sinking the UFC boat. Let’s see if 224 can save the year of misses for the UFC.

Top ten sporting events to look out for in 2018
what real expectations are the Dragons under??? no one would of thought six months ago that they would be undefeated after six rounds, so expectations exceeded.
Can the Dragons keep living up to expectations?
Jimmy he is not wrong about the JT to retire part, he is looking like he is one his last legs. But the solution is to get back to the form of the finals, last year, whatever they did then they need to do now.
Are the Cowboys cooked?
Mate, if I ever do a top ten comments article (hint, hint editors) that is certainly going to be on the list, that comment has literally turned my day from dull and boring to a laugh a minute, thanks mate. Great comment. Quick question though, is Minto still doing real estate in Yeppoon??? Last I heard he was.
Are the Cowboys cooked?
hey Scott Minto’s number one fan, how are you mate? haven’t heard from you in a while, what’s happening??
Are the Cowboys cooked?
The Commonwealth games made my number one on my Top Ten Sporting events to look forward to in 2018 article, and for good reason. The author’s points on why the games mean so much to so many is exactly why they made my number one. Vanuatu earnt a bronze medal is the women’s beach volley ball, try telling those girls that that is worthless, cause it aint. its worth everything.
Well Done is the author for doing this article.
Why the Commonwealth Games matter
Yes ? sad isn’t it??
