Spot on with who I was told. Take away Kevvy. I like OBrien, I think hes lacking the tools in Newcastle, something Melbourne can give to him. Not a fan of Kearney, even though I know FP and CB like him, but I am a huge fan of Rylesy.

All hail the new kings of Melbourne

Since Ryles has come in, the Storms pack has arguably been the most consistent and most feared (2016 onwards). He gets my nod and will do a very solid job, if so.

Grant is the better hooker. Smith is the better footballer. IMO anyway

All hail the new kings of Melbourne

I did a short internship at the Storm in 2018, noticed a little skinny kid training out of his skin, seemed to feel the game as well as Cam, very calm and relaxed. Watched him the whole week and just kept saying to myself, “he will be special… seriously”..Said to one of the managers at the time “Geez, that kid is really good, no chance of a run this year?”. Was told he was still very raw and the keys of his position were handed to another bloke by the name of Brandon Smith. 2 weeks later, a bloke by the name of Harry Grant debuts and the rest is history… as you can tell, I had nothing to do with it, but my grandkids will be told otherwise!

These four players will fix the Blues

Was told by a good source there are 3 coaches vying for the role after Bellamy leaves, all of whom I think (touch wood) can uphold their success. We will see lol

All hail the new kings of Melbourne

The biggest issue for mine (Storm fan), will be finding the right coach to uphold the values of their club. I do know the club is driven by Bellyache in regards to values and standards, but I do know Frank Ponissi drives most of it, just does not get accredited for it. Now in my opinion, and people I trust, I believe when Bellamy retires, there will be 3 HC coaching options, all of whom I think can upkeep the culture, but to how successful they may hold it, is the worry.
There is no point having such talent, but not having the coach to push the roster to their potential.
For mine, if the Storm can woo Jason Ryles back after his stint with English Rugby, I can really smell another further dominance by the Storm with those 3 mentioned, along with leaders Finucane, Jesse B, Cristian Welch etc.

All hail the new kings of Melbourne

Who did you recruit for TB?
I have a claim to fame in recruitment, I really didn’t do anything, but in my heart and soul, I believe I did! lol

These four players will fix the Blues

QLD want, NSW expect – is literally the best way to describe Origin in the last 15 odd years.

Why do I feel like, QLD players want to win the series for their state, while the NSW players want to win it for their achievement list?
Once they won, and did their celebratory lap, all the QLD players were screaming “Queenslander!”. Nothing personal, nothing to do with their achievements, all for their state.
It may be a reach, but that quote is so evident from Wednesday night, it is scary!

NSW relapses: We don't understand Origin again

100% Hunt is walking away with something dodgy in the end… I can guarantee that haha. Sad thing about boxing, money rules ALL

Ten talking points from Origin 3

QLD fan – I thought Crichton was enormous! His tenacity in defence was amazing. He really stepped out of the shadow and etched his name as an Origin player.

Ten talking points from Origin 3

I think the pack all stems down to leadership. Richie was the master of getting a pack up to perform at their absolute peak. Read happened to learn off him, and could marginally pull it off at times. Sadly, this pack all seem fresh and lack a leader. I will not oust Sam Whitelock, as he tried his ass off, and players like Cane and Savea are just immense, but the lack of “here boys, follow me” seems to be the issue.
The one thing that stood out to me, is whenever something was questioned, a bad call against the Blacks, or a warning etc, Cane did not once speak up to the ref, more or less, just walked away and copped it. Richie would never let something he saw feasible, go unsaid. The Argies captain was constantly in the refs ear, questioning calls and questioning tactics. Thats what was missing on the weekend, and it all stems back to missing a leader. When Retallick is back, I daresay the ABs need to look at him as captain option, or giving to the senior Whitelock, and allowing Cane to just play his game, and then in the future, take over captaincy in another chance.
With the positions they lack, a real 6 and 8.. I have no answer… Akira? Lack of discipline. Sotutu? Maybe a lack of fitness and pace. Vaea Fifita? Possibly. So many Q’s, not enough A’s.

What ails the All Blacks? Marginal pack decline

Imaging being so damn talented and gifted, yet so undesirable? This is legit, Russell Westbrook. His contract alone, scares teams out of their socks, but the way he is as a player and person, just is the icing on the cake.
He really did suit OKC, the smaller market, with a bunch of role players in which he can shine and make better players. I would love to see him at Washington with Beal, but I feel Beal will suffer because of his style of play.
New York makes the most sense for me, they can take on his contract, he can shine under the bright lights of MSG, and he can lead a subpar roster and essentially, play HIS way. Makes the most sense to me.

Three trade destinations for Russell Westbrook

It really is sad, once ego becomes a thing, I think it jeopardises everything!

The All Blacks had their choice of diamonds and went with a rock

😂 😂
Yes please!

Ten talking points from Origin 3

Yes, and most of them come from my side (Auckland Blues). A lot of the Blues players seem to have this ego, that I don’t know how, when they have performed so badly over the last few seasons. It is astounding to me, how such a poor club side, can be so egotistic.

The All Blacks had their choice of diamonds and went with a rock

The Bellamy effect will surely come into play! I hear Frank Ponnissi drives alot of the culture things in Melbourne, he just needs a HC willing to join him and adapt to it, like Bellza has… time will tell I guess?

Ten talking points from Origin 3

I don’t know if they’re under the radar, but the fact the Seahawks are starting to lose isn’t helping lol.
I think they were on a sly note, “forgotten” with Seattle going bezerk in the NFC West, but with a few losses, they look to be falling backwards and now all eyes are back on the Chiefs.
Funny enough, the undefeated Steelers still aren’t getting the respect you’d expect from a side who hasn’t loss? Weird, but funny.

I think the Chiefs from the AFC is as sure a thing as anything.
Who wins from the NFC is a mystery, but they will have to face a high powered engine from Kansas City.

Why are the Chiefs flying under the radar?

Welch’s impact shows up without the stats. He made a huge difference for us, that sadly, Dunamis Lui could not.

State of Origin 3 player ratings: Queensland Maroons

QLD fan and I hate anything to do with concussions. Wasn’t necessary the extra body drop, and I held my breath with the Cody Walker scenario. Never a good thing to watch.
I do agree, if someone rag dolls my captain, I am swinging on sight lol

State of Origin 3 player ratings: Queensland Maroons

Yeah it was for Game 1, they lost the game, but Kamikaze was on a tear! Fun to watch

My ultimate Queensland 17 from their most dominant Origin era

So close to starting Cronk tbh mate. I liked Cronk and JT much better than JT and Locky.

My ultimate Queensland 17 from their most dominant Origin era

One of the best performances lol he was on a mission that night!

My ultimate Queensland 17 from their most dominant Origin era

100% agree. That win was big on the scoreboard, but it really was super scrappy with transitions of good footy. The last 20 minutes, was woeful and it was maybe a 30 minute performance.

The All Blacks had their choice of diamonds and went with a rock

I am not sure if this is a troll or not 😂

My ultimate Queensland 17 from their most dominant Origin era

I don’t know if its more the coaching, moreso than the culture and leadership from the top.
I believe Razor sets super high standards, as would Rennie, in regards to how the team act, talk, walk, think, all of the above. I believe those standards have set the All Blacks apart, in which it stems from those small things, to how they lead, in which how they perform. It may sound weird, saying small things like that, in which increases your leadership, affects your play, but I highly think it does.
To me, Foster doesn’t seem like hes installing that kind of discipline and culture.
For example, at the game on the weekend, prior to kick off, the ENTIRE Pumas squad were out, warming up as a unit. The All Blacks however, came out sporadically, and never together – something never heard of from Henry/Hansen era.
After the game, the entire All Blacks side, bar 2 starters, walked into the game and did not greet or walk around to thank the AB fans, namely Sam Whitelock was one of them (a Henry/Hansen man). As a standard set by Hansen, usually the reserves, would always do a semi work out slash warm down after the game, only one player spotted doing so, Nepo Laulala, again, a Hansen man.

These small things can lead to stronger leadership, which I think leads to better performances on the field.
Hansen no doubt had the better roster, but the roster Foster has been given, is still quite world class.
