Cheers Bobby. I’m fascinated to see how TT goes. Certainly can’t fault the idea of rewarding him for that showing in Brissy, I would have liked to see him used as a 40-minute impact player after halftime though.
Where Australia vs Argentina will be won and lost
Oh, don’t take the “nine months in the gym” comment too seriously.
Completely agree with you on errors, lineout and breakdown. Accuracy will be key.
Where Australia vs Argentina will be won and lost
It’s a good point Paul. There were certainly a few which they went for touch with for either that reason or because it was late on and going in threes wouldn’t have helped them much. Still, that Argentina kicked for goal with more than half their penalties certainly indicates they were winning them in the right part of the field, as well as their willingness to go in threes.

Edrick Lee’s performance was probably the biggest surprise. I didn’t think he had that in him at Origin level. Just outstanding.

Agree 100%, David Nofoaluma should have been in the squad.

I reckon Welch does a fair bit that doesn’t show up on the stats sheet, TB.
As for Grant, it’d clearly be irresponsible for the NRL to allow anything but a return to Leichhardt in 2021, an opinion which has nothing to do with me being a Tigers fan.

Outlandish thinking, Emcie. It’s not like that was what made the BBL popular in the first place
The Big Bash has announced three new rules for BBL10 and they're ridiculous
Sorry, that wasn’t clear in the piece. Tempo is right: the substitute must happen at the ten-over mark of the first innings.

But New Zealand didn’t get a bonus point for that game – bonus points weren’t used that tournament.
They did get an unduly large spike in their NRR, which in itself is an issue worth addressing.

Can’t do anything to help the bowlers, Paul, it’s all gotta be about high-scoring cricket!

Young stars headline Australian Test squad for India series
I think he’s there as a proper top-six option, I’m just not sure he’s ahead of Head and Wade – and Pucovski, for that matter – in the pecking order yet.
Young stars headline Australian Test squad for India series
I don’t think we’ll see Green until later in the series, if at all. Particularly with the first game being a day-nighter under lights, a sixth genuine bat is going to be more valuable than a fifth bowling option.
Young stars headline Australian Test squad for India series
Well he’s been dropped and re-selected far too frequently over his career without ever really getting a proper extended run in the side. Nothing wrong with sticking with him in the squad as the incumbent.
That said, I’m firmly in the “Pucovski should open” camp.

He’s the incumbent and is far more proven than Harris and Bancroft at Test level. A no-brainer.
Young stars headline Australian Test squad for India series
Yeah it’s a good squad. Having so many spots to fill makes it a bit easier to get form players in there though – the real interesting point will come when they name the 11 or 12 for the first Test.

One real benefit of the NRC, soapit, was the structure it gave to the season: once SR ends, it gave non-Wallabies a fairly good comp to play in during what would otherwise be a lull in the season for them. Didn’t hurt that it also exposed up-and-comers to playing against guys with SR experience, either.

Don’t know about you Brett, but I’d be very surprised if it’s not curtains for the NRC

It’ll be the same game across the country: the Saturday night match each week.

An excellent point, RCT. It’s something they won’t have dealt with in the past, but I hope they make it affordable for venues, particularly with capacity restrictions impacting how lucrative it is for pubs to show live sport these days.

Yes I saw that this morning. Only makes the deal even better for RA.

I’d not expect Stan to be just rugby for long. Their CEO, Mike Sneesby, gave the old “watch this space” line yesterday, and there have already been reports about them going after tennis (which makes a hell of a lot of sense given Nine already show the Aus Open).

Cheers JD. That’s the thing, isn’t it? Tempting as it is to say “there’s no way the Pumas can do it again”, no one’s going to write them off for a fair while after last week.
