Peter,
The refs change calls in just about every game…after they receive information from the pocket referee, touch judge or bunker…. literally in just about every single game.

Ben Cummins is a good man and a great referee – so lay off him!

The Wolfpack story is too good.
Salford somehow claiming the title this week would be one of the great underdog stories in sport.
Trainers only being allowed on the field when there are stoppages is a winner… the clubs can try their best to exploit it but there is no reason for the trainer to be on the field after 2 mins of free flowing play – get them off the field.

A weekend when things may have actually changed in a sport that usually goes in circles

Well done Tim, all class.

It didn’t cost the Raiders the game.
People may not like it but Cummins corrected what would’ve been a bigger mistake if he had let Canberra get 6 again…. sure Wighton may have kicked or passed, etc if he didn’t see the hand wave but did it cost them victory? No.
It just led to a turnover 90m from their tryline and they couldn’t shut out the superstar backline of the roosters who were getting ready to step up in that final 15.

The rules of trainers on the field needs to be enforced, they should only be allowed on the field during a stoppage – if McGuirk can’t enforce this, as you say, he should go.

Good to see you back Justin 👍

I think he has improved BD… the other factor is that the SL is much faster than the NRL due to less priority on winning the ruck and wrestle – and therefore the little guys get a much better chance to shine than the NRL…. hence you see the creative players or those that have speed & agility do so well over there.

And most of the English forwards come over to the NRL and are not only effective but are able to play 80mins immediately because of the slower pace.

Wolfpack win frosty promotion from Super League clubs

Sorry mate, I wasn’t having a dig…. genuinely wasn’t sure if you were across it – not knowing when the article was submitted 👍

Wolfpack win frosty promotion from Super League clubs

They gained approval prior to the million pound game…. I think Jimmy might not be up to speed on that progress.

They will officially be in the 2020 Super League – all systems are go 👍

Wolfpack win frosty promotion from Super League clubs

I think the original discontent or jealousy from the super league clubs has somewhat disappeared and they rationally see how big this is for the competition.
This isn’t just big for the Super League, this is massive for the sport. The Canadian media have paid it plenty of attention and if they continue to strengthen further while in the super league – they could take this to new heights.
Also there was plenty of positivity on social media too including from the SL clubs.
The 2020 Super League is drawing more excitement than the NRL is for next year – it would be even more mouth watering if Salford are to go into the season as reigning premiers!!

Never claimed to always be right… not sure what Manly has to do with the above anyway…

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

Good reasoned comment Jimmmy, and it’s the same conclusion I reached on the game… the call was right, the process used is left it open to criticism.

A rational review of Sunday’s refereeing dramas

Brendon,
Have you watched the replay? Not sure how you could possibly state anyone is assuming if you have…. it’s clear as day.

A rational review of Sunday’s refereeing dramas

Good one ROC, absolutely spot on as well 👍
The trainer issue is the one i have the biggest gripe with…. even in this one, the refs got it right but something needs to change.
No one wants a drink after 2 mins, absolutely no idea what the roosters bloke was doing on the field…Tim Gore’s campaign should be taking off after this – Nathan McGuirk needs to be held accountable and force change, start fining clubs or make players come to the sideline if they want a drink…. trainers should only ever be on the field during a pause in play.

A rational review of Sunday’s refereeing dramas

Fair enough Rob, you make solid points and I too understand the frustration and anger but it’s a stretch to say the team was robbed of victory…. also I understand the frustration on the other side of the fence, where people seem to think what this roosters side achieved was gifted to them.
That’s not correct, and I couldn’t see them breaking last night.

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

Yeah because that’s what ch9 have done all year, just play down controversy and lay off the refs….

Could no way be that Sterlo is objectively commenting on what he saw over the 80 mins without agenda like he usually does….lucky I got my alfoil

Why Peter Sterling doesn't think the 'six again' controversy cost the Raiders the premiership

Go on the live blog and check my comment with about 15-20 to go stating that I can see the pressure shifting to the raiders and the longer this goes the roosters are more likely to score…. not long afterwards, SST broke the line and not long after that they score….yeah, that’s before it happened – do you want me to send you the link or copy and paste it here for you? Watching the game you could see (well I could anyway) that the raiders had thrown everything at the roosters but couldn’t break through including when they were down to 12.

Anyways, maybe I don’t know much about the game but I’m comfortable stating I know more than you based on your contributions to this site… enjoy your day, cheers 👍

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

Firstly, they evidently did get the call right.

Secondly, have you ever complained when a referee rules a drop out then is advised that it should be a 20m tap – and therefore correctly changes his decision?

It’s crazy how people actually want to see the ref make the wrong call…. it just shows objectivity has gone out the window on this one.

We have to be honest about refs

I do appreciate that Rob but there is no guarantee it would have happened…. claiming they were robbed is ridiculous – which is what I’m saying.

P.S. that 2016 sharks side scored more tries in just the preliminary final than this raiders side did in their entire finals campaign… not really a comparison.

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

The end call was the right one… the trainer thing is absurd but again the call was the right one.

I hate the roosters but people trying to deflect away from their achievements is just poor form…. they were on the ropes last night after arguably playing their grand final last weekend yet hung in there and got the win through a bit of magic on their left side – let’s just downplay how brave the roosters were and just claim they were gifted a lucky win… way to go at being a fair observer.

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

I like both squads, should form pretty strong teams.

That 9s squad looks electric!

Also good to see Mal stay on until at least the next World Cup 👍

Six debutants named in Kangaroos squad for 2019 internationals

Agree with everything there Fish, well constructed.
Cummins indecisiveness in the 70th min didn’t cause all of the above.

Six talking points from the NRL grand final 2019

It’s crazy to think that the roosters could defend their line for a further 10 minutes…. having only let in one try in each of their finals matches.
Or am I imagining it?

Or maybe defending your own try line 90m out is too hard also….?

Baseless comment as usual…

Roosters go back-to-back at 2019 NRL Grand Final

Although they got the call right, in hindsight, what you’ve described above is probably what they should’ve done to remove the confusion.

We have to be honest about refs

I’m on board 👍

The NRL knew the risks for years about on-field trainers and did nothing

Congrats Pickett, the booing was woeful… certainly earned the roosters more hate lol

I thought Wighton was best on ground with probably JWH and Morris both equally just behind him.

Anyways back to back – a classy side and they’ve done it, enjoy the win!

Commiserations Geoff, and a very measured comment – still a great year for your mob, first GF appearance in 25 years, you’d still call 2019 a success!
