How many standout performances has he had at state and international level?
Before you come back and say his never had a chance… there’s a reason for that – his name is James Tedesco.
Kangaroos squad: Cleary injured, Meninga backs Tedesco after snubbing in-form trio as Latrell 'comeback' surprises
You’re not in the minority TB, not a chance that I would pick Walsh or Ponga ahead of Teddy.
The most obvious replacement in terms of like for like would be Edwards but his not in Teddy territory just yet.

To be fair to that statement, the Roosters and Storm have played in 15 of the 20 deciders between 2001 – 2020…. Since then Penrith have played in everyone.
And this year the 3 of them ended up on the same side of the draw, of course at some point their dominance would end but given no side outside of those 3 have won a premiership since 2016 – it’s impossible to be wrong by making a statement that at some point the tide will turn.
‘The resume speaks for itself': Luai on the hate, the injury, the faith and why the Panthers are the best of the NRL era
Ok, that’s fair – kudos to you for admitting you misread.
I got no time for Luai, the guy celebrating when he was a passenger last night…. Replica of his whole career, owes everything to Cleary.
‘The resume speaks for itself': Luai on the hate, the injury, the faith and why the Panthers are the best of the NRL era
So now his responsible for what Jerome Luai says?
You can see the people who are hating the fact he delivered last night… from a mile way

But if hyperbole but in the original but there’s no way Benji is in the same category as Cleary
Why the Wallabies shouldn't miss out on the next Joey and try to lure Cleary for 2027 World Cup
What would you expect him to say?
He didn’t just pay them back, he put them on his back and lead them to another premiership ring.
Cleary's immortal display inspires Panthers to pull off record comeback win for three-peat and break Broncos hearts
They are never going to say that he had a perfect game though, they could win 80-0 and he scores all 80 points and they’d still be humble enough to say he could be better.
I’ve never seen anything like it in RL, no skin in the game – least excited I’ve been heading into a GF but wow what a game and in awe of Nathan’s performance. We witnessed sporting greatness last night
Grand Final player ratings - Penrith Panthers: Cleary goes from shocker to perfect 10, Leota's epic impact
That’s a very glass half empty outlook Jimmmy… that hardly the first halfback to miss a tackle.
16 down, the game almost gone… he did everything and more you would expect the best player in the game to do. Literally put the whole of Penrith on his back and delivered another premiership.
The pressure he would have been under with his halves partner injured and his captain off…. Every critic would’ve been into him this morning if Brisbane won, cue the “cleary fails to stand up when his team needed it in a big game”.
10/10 more than justified… add the context, and there’s rarely ever been one more deserving
Grand Final player ratings - Penrith Panthers: Cleary goes from shocker to perfect 10, Leota's epic impact
3peat + Nathan Cleary = simply the best.
ANALYSIS: No matter what you do, Penrith will get you eventually - just ask the Broncos
I agree, undeniable and indescribable!
Deserves all the plaudits
Cleary's immortal display inspires Panthers to pull off record comeback win for three-peat and break Broncos hearts
Nathan Cleary – etched himself into immortality, arguably the greatest GF performance by an individual…. And the pressure of being the premier player in the game, needing to stand up – he carried them home to silence the doubters forever.
This Panthers side (2020-2023) also etched themselves into greatness, arguably the greatest club team we’ve seen.
Great game.
Great refereeing.
Great performance from both teams.
Great GF.
And as the saying goes..Rugby League – the greatest game of all!!

Ponga was in next level form

ANALYSIS: Johnson and Egan power Warriors into Prelim - but Newcastle did everything to help them out
????
This years origin series was a bore and low quality, compare that to the World Cup semis finals last year… not even close in speed, intensity or quality
Kiwis squad: Johnson, Hughes and Manu hold the key as New Zealand look to exploit Warriors fever
Yeah nah, I watch origin every year….it hasn’t been superior for a long time.
The kiwis squad would flog both those teams

NRL Finals Talking Points: Hard to send a player off for biting, Knights on a roll but Panthers vs Broncos GF looks inevitable
Yet you will defend Cleary against criticism in plenty of games where he has done far less…. It is ridiculous.
Hynes had a fantastic game – the issue was the plenty of what ifs involving others

ANALYSIS: Redemption for Walker as Roosters lose Manu, Suaalii and Teddy - but pull off all-time epic finals win
Try 38000 last year against a Sydney team …and 37000 against the cowboys in 2016
It’s annoying that 25,000 fans will be locked out of Shark Park this weekend - but home advantage matters more
Fair enough, but finals are finals.
I don’t think playing a prelim in front of 25k is sufficient for the game.
We need to evolve, just my view
It’s annoying that 25,000 fans will be locked out of Shark Park this weekend - but home advantage matters more
Raiders got 30k in attendance against the warriors in Sydney for a semi final… 20 years ago
Newcastle got 40k against the roosters 10 years ago
You can try to find reasons why it won’t work, but I’m positive it would be a success.
40k in Sydney or Brisbane is far better than 25k
It’s annoying that 25,000 fans will be locked out of Shark Park this weekend - but home advantage matters more
No, you’re correct but clearly missing the point.
The point is, James Tedesco is the best choice… you think he wouldn’t look a 100x times better doing what he does in a Penrith side.
