Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
In SRP, yes. Hanigan had just come off a full season in Japan so was pretty seasoned when he turned out for the Tahs.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
I hope its not diaengenuous as I said in the opening paragraph ‘many’ not ‘I’ were/was scratching their head.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
I’m a fan of Kautai. But I don’t think that he’s eligible at the moment.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hi Frankly, both Godwin and Ralston are heading overseas but are still eligible to make the A team. Maybe they will…
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hey Brett. I was pretty happy with the 35-man squad too. The ones that miss out are always a talking point, though, so I put it out there as a lede to encourage some discussion. Fancy any bolters for the A team?
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Loads of talent in the back row. Maybe the 2027 World Cup will be enough of a carrot for many to stay.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
No. Just the three games in the Pacific Nations Cup.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Thanks, Waxy. Gamble would probably make our top 35 if he was eligible. I suspect that the door will still be closed to Aus A. Lots of others have Uru starting too.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hi Jez, my instinct is that those players won’t be eligible, but we’ll find out tomorrow.
Released players is the real wildcard for the Aus A team. Perese coming in at 13 next to Foketi would be huge.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Yep, Australia is thin on lock stocks. Blyth has had a few mentions in the comments.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
I would have had Flook in there, but I think that he’s still on the mend after a shoulder injury.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hi Ferret, he wasn’t in my 23 as the others had more game time on him. But maybe this is his chance to get some quality minutes. Very good player.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Thanks Tez. I thought about Brown but I doubt he’s eligible at the moment.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hi Peter, thanks for your thoughts. I thought long and hard about Hodge and Campbell at fullback. What you say about Hodge makes sense, but I figured that he may finally get a shot in his favoured position. Maybe i prefer him a little bit more as a player too. Banks unlikely to get picked for the WBs next year. Will be a great battle between RH, JC, Petaia. Wright and maybe others..?
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hey Bobby, just speculation from me re To’omua. You’d imagine that if he misses out here, he’s officially done as a Wallaby.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Gleeson looks like a top prospect, indeed. There’s a lot of good backrowers coming through, so it’ll be interesting to see who makes it and who misses out.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Strachan is an interesting one, John. He had a good season over in the west.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
Hey Dean, the Irish second team are the Wolfhounds. Any suggestions for the Aussies? England and Scotland also go with ‘A’
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
A mix, I’d say. There’s positions like prop where you’d definitely need some veterans. Whether they choose To’omua or guys like Pasitoa and Gordon will be telling in terms of their thinking re next-best versus up-and-comers.
Australia A is back. Who are they going to pick?
I’ll be sending a simple ‘message to my girl’ that I’m not to be disturbed the next two days from 5pm…
Which Split Enz song sums up the Super Rugby semi-final?
Well put, Charlie. There’s far too much tolerance of abuse for officials in rugby and other sports. It’s unacceptable what you and other officials cop from people. More cracking down needed.
Referee abuse is eating away at the grassroots of rugby
Hey Jez, yep can confirm TE and MN played the second half at Eastwood on Saturday.
The Wrap: The Reds ride the bumps all the way to Super Rugby grand final
Interesting thought, Piru, but I think that they’d like to have the flexibility of being able to select players coming back from injury, or using veterans in positions where they’re otherwise thin.
