A lover of all things sport. Admittedly biased towards all Australian teams and players. Tennis is my main game.

Yes you are right about that. But what I’ve seen so far is that, aside from Adam Treloar, players are willing to take a little less money to compete for a premiership – and that is the sign of a good system.
As you noted, even if players exit, they have the draft picks to recover seamlessly.
The GWS dynasty is upon us
Yeah, but as the Bulldogs showed, you can really survive injuries with good depth.
The development of Lobb is big, as they have a solid back up to Mumford.
They’re definitely my pick for the flag!
The GWS dynasty is upon us
Yeah you’re right. Something would have to go terribly wrong for them to not compete in grand finals for the next 5-10 years
The GWS dynasty is upon us
Dissapointing for Roughead and the Bulldogs. Cloke looked very solid though.
Melbourne look ready to push for the top 8 though, as many people were expecting.
Cloke's Dog days begin, but Demons are top
Absolutely right Paul. One slow player in this day and age can cost you in big games.
Unless you’re Sam Mitchell of course.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Absolutely agree. His value to Geelong is massive, although the Crows managed to improve without him, but I think that was due to coaching changes rather than the exit of Dangerfield.
Will Dangerfield continue to rise?
Agreed Paul D. As good as he has been over a long period of time, in big finals games his lack of pace could be an issue.
The problem with Ellis-Yolmen is that he is just as slow as Thompson. He wins the ball a lot, but similar to the Crouch boys, he doesn’t provide a lot of speed.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yeah Ellis-Yolmen should play after Lyon’s exit, Crouch’s injury and Thompson’s ageing. The fact that those players are in the reserve side is a good sign, but the depth will really get tested if they encounter a few serious injuries.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
About as much excitement as you’ll get in a preseason game.
O’Meara looked great for the Hawks, and great to see Roughead back out there!
Hawks win a pre-season thriller on the siren
As long as he is making runs, he can bat wherever he feels most comfortable.
I like the idea of batting him at number four, as I wouldn’t want to change anything for young Renshaw in his first trip to India.
Marsh happy to bat anywhere in Test order
Voges absolutely deserves his respect. Unfortunate end to his career. but he capitalized on lesser teams, and you couldn’t have asked much more from him.
Humble and well respected by the players, too.
Adam Voges deserves some respect
As you say, Usman’s footwoork is below what it needs to be against top quality spinners.
His hand eye co-ordination is great, but he can’t rely on that in the sub continent unfortunately.
The selectors would be wise choosing Shaun Marsh in my opinion
Khawaja to be dropped for India Tests, with spin his undoing
He will definitely be a key cog for years to come for them. Hopefully the midfield gives him good delivery
Slim Hogan ready for Demons' premiership tilt
While I agree that Thommo’s days are very numbered, I think he still has a place in the side in 2017, and absolutely in 2016. Yes he is getting slower and the decisions aren’t great, but his toughness and tackle pressure is missed when he isn’t there.
Plus his leadership is invaluable.
Without injuries to other players in 2017 he may fall out of favor, but he is definitely still a viable option in my opinion
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
I think watching them in the finals last year that they were very dominant, despite all their injuries.
And yes the Crows injury list may revert to the mean, but it’s a good sign that players don’t drop left right and center.
And yes, GWS have got to be flag favorites
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Wouldn’t say average, still better than most teams, but below par for what’s required to win a premiership. That said, they are young and their strong forward line evens it out in many ways.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
There are certainly lots of teams that could squeeze into the eight. It’s gonna be tough battles for spots for sure
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yes you are right. Throw in Freo too, but they haven’t been around as long.
They have lots of elite players in their prime, but the key test it midfield depth.
They’d need a few things to go their way, but it is absolutely possible to win a flag this season
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yeah they could cause some damage, but as you say a lot would need to go right for them.
And if you throw in the passing of Dean Bailey and the near-death of Brent Riley, I think it is fair to say they have been through more than anyone. Essondon is a different sort of thing, but tough nonetheless. The club put it on themselves in many ways, but feel for the players for sure.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yeah the best midfielders in the comp have really troubled them. The final against Sydney was tough because of how small the ground is, it makes it tough for them to play their gamestyle, similar to when they play Geelong in Geelong. Sloane is arguably the most important player in the AFL to me, with the lack of firepower the Crows midfield has.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
The finals exits are a definite concern, but they were to two quality teams. A home prelim or a prelim at the MCG is essential I think, because of the size of the grounds
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
If he can get healthy for the back end of the year he could still be very effective. As you say, players like Knight and CEY especially are due for a good year, and would add some good versatility, especially with Knight.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yes absolutely right. They didn’t make moves in the trade period which rarely ends well for teams
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Fairly accurate, although if I had any say in it Dale Thomas would not be getting a game unless injuries torment the club.
As for the Rowe selection, I think that it a smart move, otherwise Kreuzer could well burn out by mid season.
Carlton's best 22 for the opening clash vs Richmond
