A lover of all things sport. Admittedly biased towards all Australian teams and players. Tennis is my main game.

Yeah that was where their season fell apart, round 23. They had a real shot if they could have clinched third or fourth, but nothing suggests they can’t make another run at it this season
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
And Jenkins and Walker move pretty well too. Definitely not top heavy in terms of being slow.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yeah agreed Craig. The injuries to Brad Crouch could be an issue, but with him healthy it is a solid enough group. Tommy Lynch definitely doesn’t get the credit he deserves either!
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
The forward line definitely hasn’t been the issue, but the midfield is where teams can really break them down.
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yeah agree. Milera and Cameron can provide some great pace off the wings, and with Jacobs form declining at the back end of last season O’Brien is a nice player to have coming through
Are the Crows genuine contenders?
Yeah agreed Swampy. The west doesn’t have the depth it used to for sure
The Hornets are the NBA’s quiet catastrophe
When Nicolas Batum guarantees they are going to beat the 76ers, and then they don’t, something is definitely wrong. They were on top of the east early in the season too, and their roster still looks pretty good.
Don’t see them making the playoffs this season unfortunately
The Hornets are the NBA’s quiet catastrophe
Haven’t seen the match myself, but I followed the scores this morning and the first set looked extremely tight.
Thompson is one player I wouldn’t expect to tank, or even give anything less than his best effort.
He may have played a bad match, but Basilashvilli beat Dominic Thiem just last week, so we must give him credit too.
Hopefully Thommo responds positively.
Jordan Thompson lashes out after accusations of tanking
I think he is absolutely right. Most people wouldn’t want the publicity that comes with it, which is fair enough
Murphy: First gay AFL player 'years away'
Like any idea there are positives and negatives to it. I don’t see why they can’t keep the fixture the way it is and strictly hold accountable teams that tank. And maybe create a lottery similar to the NBA for draft picks to make tanking riskier.
The AFL's terrible idea that won’t die
The Crows were found out last year by West Coast in the final round of the season. That provides other teams with a formula on how to defend the sling shot style of play.
That said, they have had great success and have shown it can beat the best teams, so it should be interesting.
One big question for each team to answer in the JLT Community Series
Yeah, unbelievable what he did in 2015. There isn’t much between them for sure. Hopefully they can both stay healthy!
Will Dangerfield continue to rise?
That is possible. He likes to take things into his own hands, but it is great to watch nonetheless
Will Dangerfield continue to rise?
Agree that it is a bit of an odd move, considering he was overlooked last year. I think Freo are looking to keep Fyfe long term, and by giving the captaincy they are guilitng him into staying in a way.
Will be interesting to see how this plays out
A captain without a contract? Smells a bit fishy, Fremantle
Agreed. He certainly hasn’t been himself lately. Hopefully he hasn’t overdone it with his body
What’s wrong with Dominic Thiem?
Agree. Geelong are too dependant on him and Selwood to win a premiership
Will Dangerfield continue to rise?
Agree with all of the above! It really is impossible to write off the Hawks, and the three dark horses could well finish from 10-12 or 6-8, depending on how the dice fall

Peter Nevill’s form with the bat recently has been a welcome sign due to the struggles of Wade for the national team. It’d be great to see Sayers get a call up for the Ashes next year, or even earlier if possible. As you note with Holland, his age is a big barrier in him returning to the test squad, but nonetheless his recent form has been very impressive.
Local talent reminding us how great the Sheffield Shield can be
Agree with the Eagles as a dark horse! Haven’t heard too much being spoken about them in the off season aside from the signing of Sam Mitchell

Good young sides with lots of respected veterans and coaches. I see them losing in the preliminary finals this season.

OG, disagree with your opinion but that’t fine. KD brought this all onto himself and deserves every bit of criticism he gets from loyal fans.
Express34Texas, you are right about the turnover numbers, I got mixed up. but considering his usage rate 5.5 isn’t as bad as it seems. It’t bad, but not catastrophic.
And with the TS% and efficiency, KD is clearly the better shooter, always has been and always will be. But the floor spacing on GS in 50 times better than in OKC, meaning Durant is taking much easier shots than RW does.
His defense is much better than Russ, and is a pretty underrated part of his game. I got him 3rd in MVP voting right now, although it would be insane if he were to win it given the nature of his move to GS.
Thoughts?
The Warriors won the game, but Westbrook trumps Durant
He didn’t strike me as a leadership type. It is obviously hard to be a first year captain in a losing side, but I thought his on-field leadership was lacking at times.
Fyfe edges out Mundy to become Fremantle skipper
Agree with Freo as a darkhorse. They aren’t being talked about much, but I think they could have a big season (compared to last years.)
Would be surprised to see Bulldogs fall too heavily. they are too well coached and have too good of a culture in my opinion.

AFL
* Sydney vs GWS grand final, with GWS winning their first premiership
* dark horse is St Kilda and Hawthorn (as crazy as it sounds.)
* breakout season for Jesse Hogan, Isaac Heeney and Rory Lobb.
* Brownlow: hard to go past Dangerfield if healthy. Nat Fyfe and Luke Parker for second and third.

Yeah you’re right in saying that it was very even last year. The midfield is definitely the weakness, but they’re very young too, which may or may not be a good thing. Time will tell
