Absolutely, Harry. Hopefully he’s still got some gas left in the tank when he comes back from France.

Cheers, TLN. Always appreciate your comments!

Definitely, James!

Hey Paul, yeah he’s pretty philosophical about the Tahs stint. It didn’t work out but it led to better things.

Hi mz, I envy him too. Good career and some great bases for it. He’s a warrior. He’s earned it.

Aussie abroad: Tala Gray

Absolutely, Tooly. A lesson there for anyone.

Could think of worse things, Max!

Cheers Bob. Thanks for the comment.

Hi CS, i was there for it. Awesome game. Both teams were there to play positive rugby. It was noticeable how few scrums there were. I didn’t miss them!

Hi mz, yeah he probably has a lower profile than he should have. Was apparently close to becoming Reds boss in 2009 when Mackenzie got the gig, and also had his name thrown around last year when the Tah’s head job became open. In addition to his SS, Bulls and Waratahs roles was DOR at Panasonic in Japan. Was also a contributor to the Roar once upon a time!

A highly unenviable task!

My five favourite Wallabies of all time

Nice one, Peter. Seeing Joe Roff’s name emboldened made me immediately think of Melbourne ’01; the same with Horan against RSA in ’99. Those performances clearly stood out for you too.

Hi DA, yeah maybe he is. I can’t argue against the many clubs point. We’ll have to wait and see whether it’s a long tenure at SD or another in and out. Cheers.

Haha Linphma! Bragging rights for Southo’s in 2020. Although they may meet again in the semi’s…

Well said, BB. That was some win.

Thanks again, TLN!

Very handy. Plenty of experience which is great for a young team.

Very good sign. That would have been a great battle.

Thanks Jez, your mates’ hearts are clearly in the right place! Louden might just help to Channel that passion and vision.

Cheers Stillmissit. I’m off to have a peek at Randwick vs. Eastwood. Enjoy the weekend’s rugby.

Definitely, CS. Rugby is very north/east-centric in Sydney. A goldmine of talent in those other quadrants probably playing other sports. Thanks for the comment.

Hi C, thanks for the comment. Manny spoke to me a bit about Huia. They were both based in France for a period before Huia moved back to Canberra a few years ago. Huia had four wallaby caps to Manny’s two.

Thanks a lot, Geoff!

Thanks for the thought! They’re all sitting in my profile to read for free so probably not these stories but I would definitely like to author a book one day.

Hi Elf, thanks for the comments. Yeah, the top two French comps are very well followed. Rugby does have a following in country Australia, of course, but it remains a dominant capital-city sport. Sydney and Brisbane spawn the bulk of the Aussie players. If rugby was the dominant sport in Bathurst and Armidale it could possibly work, but I doubt the sport would even rank in the top three in terms of participation and interest. Thanks again.
