How good! Patrick Effeney and I got to have a training session with Rob once – lovely guy, great to see him making waves.

Correct decision, the show must go on.

Conor McGregor stripped of featherweight title

You raise an excellent point. Sadly my knowledge of South African cuisine extends only so far as biltong. I assume, that is also performance enhancing…

And then when you go to reach for them you can always just fall back on the old ‘I was just adjusting’ defence.

Really interesting take, Connor – it’s definitely an enduring feature of the Australian sporting psyche to avoid giving credit to the opposition, even in losses. It makes us feel more in control, I think. Full credit to South Africa, they were utterly brilliant.

Is it possible Australia are just losing to a better team?

How the hell did Wonderboy get out of that?!?!?

Love your work Tristan. I will however, be throwing all of your excellent advice out the window and putting my money on Pentathlon because of what happened last year.

Melbourne Cup 2016: Preview and top tips

I don’t think that’s necessarily true. There’s been plenty of times he acts like a complete twat on the court and it spurs him onto win. When he blows his lid it can either lead to him self-combusting or take his game to a new level.

Nick Kyrgios doesn't owe you anything

And for the overhwelming majority of ever season he works his backside off. You don’t get to world number 14 through pure talent – that’s taken sustained hard work, dedication and focus – he spits the dummy once every so often and people pull out their pitchforks and ask for his head. It is complete madness.

Nick Kyrgios doesn't owe you anything

While I sympathise with the ticket holders, I also sympathise with the guy that has to suffer through an unconscionably gruelling schedule. It definitely sucks for the spectators and they have a right to be pissed, but sometimes people are just not at their best at their jobs all the time – and that’s not cause for moral panic. Sometimes bands on world tours play garbage shows because they’re exhausted and human – that’s not a disgrace, it’s just a bit s***.

I think you’d also be naive to think that a large percentage of players on tour don’t do the exact same thing as Nick but with a great deal more subtlety. NBA teams don’t always put their best team on the floor for every game because they’re players need a break – tennis players don’t have any teammates to hide behind.

Nick Kyrgios doesn't owe you anything

Someone saying “you shouldn’t call a black person a n****”” or don’t call a young, gay teen a f***** is far less dangerous than allowing it to go on – but I think this is probably a discussion for another forum at another time.

Put away your pitchforks, and stop ruining everything: Thaiday's joke was great

Telling people they shouldn’t make homophobic, sexist and racist slurs is more divisive than slavery, Nazism, Fascism, racial segregation, religion…

Put away your pitchforks, and stop ruining everything: Thaiday's joke was great

A thousand per cent agree. It’s garbage like this that makes people scream “PC POLICE” any time someone makes a valid point about something.

I laughed. Then had the sinking feeling there would be mindless outrage and was depressed to be proven correct.
